A day in the neighborhood
Spend a day In South Congress
Casa de Soco is next to St Edward’s University. A beautiful small campus with plenty of trees and a spectacular view of Austin from the top. We recommend starting your day with a short walk around campus to get your morning going.
Next visit the shops on South Congress. Many of them are starting to disappear making space for larger brands, but there are still plenty of original shops to visit.
One of our favorite is the South Congress Books shop. Bookstores are rare, and this one is just full of great books, posters and more.
First restaurant recommendation on South Congress is Perlas. Usually packed. Especially on the weekends, but the trick is to put your name down and then head over to the patio of the Austin Motel for a spicy (skinny!) margarita and wait for your text message to go back to perlas.
The patio at Austin Motel is a great spot that not a lot of people know, so you will always find a table to enjoy a cocktail while you wait for your dinner reservation or just a break from walking south congress
It would be a miss to visit south congress and not stop at Gueros to listen to bands play with Texas Radio Live.
The ultimate SoCo instagram or tiktok post will be at Joe’s coffee. The I Love You So Much graffiti is now a staple in the neighborhood.
June’s is our second restaurant recommendation. If you have two days in Austin make sure to hit this one and or Perlas in South Congress. There are so many good restaurants in Austin but these two are just one of the best and right in the neighborhood.
And when you are ready to go out at night head to Continental Club. Make sure to visit their website to book tickets in case there is a popular band playing that night
And if you aren’t already tired of eating, Home Slice is the perfect treat after a night out
